Nigel Coates

Nigel Coates is one of the few English architects who is also renowned as a designer. He maintains the original and coherent idea that architecture and design should carefully reflect the confusion and sensuality of the city. His first success came about in Japan, where, during the 80's and 90's, he designed more than twenty buildings and interior designs. His work reflected that original mixture of enthusiastic intuition and culture that were intrinsic to him.

He subsequently built a wide range of shops, restaurants and museums in Europe and Great Britain, including the National Centre for Popular Music and the Geffrye Museum, both in England. These two works were chosen to represent England at the Biennial of Architecture 200. His furniture design and objects in glass, like those for Hitch Mylius and Salviati play with association and context and merge their stylistic references into sensual flowing forms.

Throughout his career, Coates promoted his ideas by means of exhibitions and publications, amongst which is his most ambitious book "Guide to Ecstacity". He is also a professor of Architectural Design at the Royal College of Art, London.

Love the design.

I love the design, but i was a bit diapointed when I opened the box and felt the material itself. It feels too thin and flimsy. But I did not install yet...Hopefully, once all the parts are attached to each other, it will feel more rigid.

modern delight!

It simply looks great! I love it. I have the clear one and just added a touch of elegance and modern sparkle to my rooms. It was not as easy to connect as other lamps i have connected. The major issue was the ceiling plate was too small for the standard american electrical outlets and I had to take it off and buy ceiling canopy kit to fit around it. The only thing i didn't like was the bare white electrical cable but over all i simply love the lamp.

Lillibet Suspension Lamp

I purchased the Lillibet Suspension Lamp in Fume tint as a more contemporary but still elegant chandelier. It's stunning! I couldn't be happier with it.
